The Tragic Failure of Loyalty

Jesus predicted the denial and desertion of the disciples by quoting from Zechariah. In that Old Testament account, it was necessary for the shepherd to be taken away for the people to be redeemed. Jesus saw the same thing happening to his disciples. He was about to be taken away from them. They would scatter. Their fellowship would be broken. However, in the end a new relationship would spring forth. Fortunately, that would not be the end of the story.

The Night of Jesus' Arrest

Jesus' last night was a grueling one. The long ordeal included mental and physical torture as well as sleep deprivation. In addition, his captors forced Jesus to walk about seven miles to various destinations where he was grilled by three different leaders. He covered so much territory it would be easy for us to get lost if we were to retrace his route. Let's walk this journey with our Lord in this week's article.
